No, the words are not “Jelly Bran Tess”.... 09/19/2011
Jacqui returns to the Croydon Parish Players stage after a 3 year absence – this is her first show since Pirates in 2007. But it’s not like Jacqui hasn’t been busy for the last 3 years – she has been spent this time raising her 3 beautiful children – Patrick, Charlotte & Addison. The Sound of Music is her favourite musical of all and she wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to be part of it for the world! She loves the diversity of her role as a “Party / Nun”- that she can be sombre in one scene, waltz in another and celebrate in the next. One of Jacqui's Favourite Things is practising her singing at home with her son Patrick – in latin mind you! – she’s just got to get Patrick used to the idea that the Latin words the nuns sing are not actually “Jelly Bran Tess” !! (Although that might sound close!) If you want to see Jacqui “strut her stuff” in October be sure to book your ticket ASAP – they are selling fast! Rick has been around the “Trapps” for 11 years now and was first introduced to Croydon Parish Players by good friends Nick and Jenn. So as you can see, the group for Rick is not just a group – it’s Friends! This is not the first time Rick has performed in The Sound of Music, however he is very excited as this time round he has been promoted to play the role of Captain Von Trapp. This is the largest role Rick has played in some time, which encompasses both singing and acting. He is enjoying the challenge of such a broad role and exploring the diverse layers of the Captain. Gill with a 'G; 08/10/2011
Since joining Croydon Parish Players through the Choir in 2010 Gill has hit the ground running, staring in our last 2 shows – The Music Man & Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime. Now – simply for a change of scenery – she decided to don the Directors Assistant’s hat for The Sound of Music. What does Gill love about Croydon Parish Players? Everyone! She says “it’s like being part of a really big family!” Gill thinks that The Sound of Music is going to be fantastic. She is looking forward to not having to jot down notes anymore so that she can start to REALLY enjoy the show and assist Nick in polishing and fine tuning it to a tee. Come see all of Gill’s hard work put into action when our season commences in October! Tickets go on sale next Monday! The 15th! Our Chair (and yes she IS standing up). 08/01/2011
Sam has been a long standing member of Croydon Parish Players and is our current Chair Person. She is thrilled to be back on stage for the first time back on the stage in 3 years, having tried her hand at different behind the scenes roles – ie: Directing last years Musical, The Music Man. Sam plays the role of Sister Margaretta, Mistress of the Postulants and is loving all the nuns singing – she finds it to be a very good form of therapy. When we asked Sam what The Sound of Music meant to her, she said “its not all ‘Lonely Goat Herd’ and ‘Do-re-mi’ – there is ‘deep and meaningful’ to be found throughout the show”. Being part of this show has given her a different perspective on it all! Come see Sam nun-it-up on stage in October! Tickets go on sale on the 15 Fun being a Nun..... 07/25/2011
With rehearsals now underway, we are enjoying the company of a great cast and crew. With a good spread of new and experienced talent, rehearsals are going well and lots of fun and laughter can be heard from the hall twice a week! Introducing Kate: Kate first joined Croydon Parish Players in 2010 when she starred as a towns-girl in The Music Man. Since joining the group she has found Croydon Parish Players very warm and welcoming and loves the opportunity rehearsals provide for her to escape from her regular routine. In our current production of The Sound of Music Kate is playing the role of a young Postulant who is studying to be a Nun at Nonnberg Abbey. She says it’s “Fun being a nun” as she feels part of a team and very well supported by the rest of the “superfluity” (collective term for nun’s!). Kate is currently studying Year 11 and has her sights set on a career in the Arts. We look forward to seeing her on the stage come October. Sound of Music 06/26/2011
