And so the final curtain has closed on Jesus Christ Superstar and what a wonderful season it was... If you had been fortunate enough to come and see the show you would entirely agree when we say it was a FANTASTIC show. The feedback we have received has been amazing, so we are all very glad you enjoyed it!

And, again, a BIG thank you to everyone involved - whether you were cast, crew, front of house, car parking, or support for someone who was involved with our show - no matter what your contribution, large or small, we could not have done it without you so THANK YOU!

Now, onwards and upwards! You may be wondering what's happening next at Croydon Parish Players...??

Well! We have some important dates for you to remember:

Tuesday 11th November @ 8pm - is our AGM down at the Hall at Croydon Uniting Church (Tallent Street). So if you want to hear about how our year has gone, catch up with old (and new) friends and hear a bit about our 2 shows for next year - Almost, Maine & My Fair Lady - then come on down.

Tuesday 18th November @ 7.30pm - is our Information night for Almost, Maine where we will have a read through of the play and you will hear about all the requirements and the directors vision should you be interested in auditioning for the show.

Saturday 6th December @ 7pm - is our end of year Christmas Party - particulars as still to be finalised, so watch this space for more information.

Looking forward to seeing you at one (or several) of these events!

Q & A with Stephen

What is your role?
I'm playing Caiaphas.

What has been your favourite part of rehearsals so far?
I will cheat and name three things that aren't all technically about rehearsals. Drumroll, please.

Coming in third is the audition format. Having songs picked, going through them at information night, getting to practise the dance audition routine and being able to sing a few parts at audition is sooo much better than spending most of your time worrying about what song to sing, getting a long dance routine to memorise in five minutes or only singing for 16 bars.

Second is the cast booklet. Yes, the cast booklet. It is great for the time challenged parent type. And I can look up everyone's names when I forget, which is most of the time.

Best, though, was hearing everyone sing. Early on, it was great to hear a large chunk of Act 1 in succession, which you often don't get til late in rehearsals (ie: now), but better to hear the songs sounding so good so early. If I had to do this questionnaire correctly and pick one favourite thing so far, it'd be the "Oh" in "Everything's Alright".

What are you most looking forward to during the season?
I'm most looking forward to costumes. I hope to wear a tall, beehive shaped hat, ala the 1973 movie Caiaphas. (Bare chest and big medallion optional but not necessary.)

What was the first musical you performed in and when was that?
My first musical was Oklahoma when I was fourteen. Can't remember whether I was a farmer or a cow man but I remember that they should be friends (and probably every other song from the show).

Outside theatre, what can you be found doing?
Outside of theatre I can often be found watching my five year old test out his contraptions, chopping firewood, plotting the destruction of the evil weeds trying to take over my property or training for triathlons.

Be sure to come and see Stephen and the rest of the cast perform in this fantastic show! Tickets are on sale and selling fast, so click here to secure yours now! We look forward to seeing you there!

Pilate Pete

When and what was your first show at CPP?
My first show with CPP was My Fair Lady 1996. This is where I met my wife Belinda.

Favourite scene and why?
My favourite scene that I'm in is "Trial by Pilate" as it really is packed with emotion and drama. However I really also love the positive vibe from "What's the Buzz," and the emotions and questions that are put forward by Jesus in "Gethsemane".

How are you different to Pilate?
That is difficult. Hopefully I'm not as easily swayed by public opinion. I certainly don't have any power like he did, but then again "Everything is fixed and you can't change it."

What are you most looking forward to during the season?
I am most looking forward to having the band/orchestra join us for a rehearsal and then opening night!

Most difficult thing about playing Pilate?
Most difficult part about playing Pilate would have to be getting the timing right for some parts of the songs I sing... at the moment anyway. I'm sure there will be other challenges as the show develops, but that's part of the fun of theatre!

Most enjoyable thing about playing Pilate?
Pilate is a great role, I'm really enjoying the whole experience, challenge and positive vibes from the cast. Everyone has been really supportive and friendly.

Don't miss the show - and of course Pilate Pete! - click here to book your tickets! We look forward to seeing you there!
